Summer fun is in full swing, but it’s never too early to get ready for an amazing new school year! 📚✨
Below are the 2025–2026 School Supply Lists for Fremont and Penrose Elementary Schools, along with the Instructional Calendar to help you plan ahead.
Let’s get ready to make 2025–2026 our best year yet! Please note for the FJSHS: The junior/senior high school collects a $35 student fee to help cover general student supplies. In addition, teachers will provide course-specific supply lists after the first day of school. Students enrolled in classes with additional fees should pay those fees during the first week of school. A full list of student fees can be found in the student handbook. We also ask each student to bring one ream of copy paper and turn it in to their first-hour teacher.

The Fremont Re-2 School District’s Weekend Food Bag Program—Bear HUGS at Fremont Elementary and Beaver Packs at Penrose Elementary—received a generous grant of over $7,300 from the Yankton Benedictine Sisters Fund through the St. Thomas More Hospital Foundation.
Fremont Re-2 was one of 13 recipients awarded a share of $73,000 aimed at improving community health and wellness. The program, supported by 12 adult volunteers and several FHS students, packs 210 food bags weekly for families in need.
We are truly grateful for this support—it will go a long way in helping us continue providing nutritious food to our students. Thank you, Yankton Benedictine Sisters!

As the 2024–2025 school year officially comes to a close, we pause to express our deepest gratitude to a remarkable group of individuals who have served our district with dedication, passion, and heart.
Each of these retirees has left a lasting impact on our schools, our community, and most importantly, our students. Their commitment to education and the values they brought to their work have helped shape the future, one student at a time.
Thank you for your years of service:
Tony Royer – 31 years of dedication since 1994, Penrose Elementary School
Laura McGee – 15 years of commitment since 2010, Florence Jr./Sr. High School
Kim McCain – 10 years of contribution since 2015, Nutrition Services
Jim Chavez – 5 years of service since 2020, Transportation
We wish you all the best in your retirement; you’ve earned it! Your legacy will continue to inspire those who follow in your footsteps.

Big cheers to the Penrose Elementary kitchen crew! On the last day of school, they ditched the lunch line and hit the grill at Penrose Park. The served up sizzling hamburgers and good vibes for all the kids at Field Day.
Flipping patties and fielding fun, these lunchtime legends turned into Field Day heroes.
Thanks for feeding the fun and making field day one to remember! 🍔🎉👏

We wish you a wonderful summer! Please note that the District Admission Office will be open Monday through Thursday, from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM.
