Located in beautiful southern Colorado, Fremont RE-2 School District proudly serves the communities of Florence, Penrose, Williamsburg, Rockvale, Coal Creek, and Wetmore.

As a small, rural school district, we take pride in our close-knit communities, dedicated educators, and commitment to providing meaningful educational opportunities for every student.

Our district includes three schools: Fremont Elementary School and Penrose Elementary School, serving students in preschool through sixth grade, and Florence Junior/Senior High School, serving students in grades 7–12.

At Fremont RE-2, we believe our greatest strength is our people. From our classrooms and school buildings to our families and community partners, we work together to create an environment where students feel supported, challenged, and inspired to succeed.

Six Communities. One District.

Fremont RE-2 is nestled in the Arkansas River Valley, surrounded by the natural beauty, history, and agricultural traditions of southern Colorado.

Our communities offer the charm of small-town living, with convenient access to Cañon City, Pueblo, Colorado Springs, and the many outdoor recreational opportunities that make this region special.

From Florence's historic downtown to Penrose's agricultural roots and the ranching traditions of Wetmore, each community brings its own unique character to our district.

We are proud of our history, our strong community connections, and the generations of families who have helped shape Fremont RE-2.

Our goal is to prepare graduates who are self-aware, globally connected, and lifelong learners, equipped with the skills and confidence to navigate their futures.

Whether students pursue higher education, technical training, military service, or enter the workforce, we want every Husky graduate to leave Fremont RE-2 prepared for the opportunities and challenges ahead.
